Sacramento Advocacy Day
- 2024 Advocacy Day was a big success – lots of meetings highlighting the needs of communities of color for key legislators and building up relationships with those Members.
- We’re hoping to have even more people join this year!
- California YIMBY can provide reimbursement for travel expenses for those who need it, so budget limitations aren’t a barrier to participation.
HWG Bill Spotlight: Homeownership Construction Tax Credit (AB 595)
- AB 595 is authored by Assembly Local Government Committee Chair Juan Carrillo, and currently co-sponsored by California Community Builders, California YIMBY, and UnidosUS.
- The bill directs the State Treasurer to design a pilot program for a state tax credit that would be offered to developers of affordable, for-sale homes, supporting and encouraging more homeownership opportunities affordable to moderate-income families and communities historically denied this valuable wealth and opportunity-building asset.
- Factsheet and template support letter coming soon, we would love your support!
HWG Spotlight: Our Future LA - More Housing in Single Family Neighborhoods
- Our Future LA, including HWG members like Inner City Law Center, has introduced AB 647 (Gonzalez), which is officially dropping early next week.
- Still working out some of the details.
- AB 647 Lobby Day Wednesday, March 5
- The bill will allow up to 8 homes in single-family neighborhoods, and on other parcels zoned for less than 8 homes, as long as one is affordable at 80% of AMI.
- The goal is to create more housing options, particularly affordable housing options, in traditionally exclusionary neighborhoods.
- They would love the support of the organizations in this working group, and will share a factsheet and support letter soon.
