2027 Policy Planning
Soliciting policy ideas from all HOME member orgs that align with our shared priorities to develop/research/explore over the next few months, so we are ready with a couple of fully-baked/strong proposals by late November
If you weren’t able to join the monthly meeting in July, you can still send your policy proposals to emily@cayimby.org through August 12, and the steering committee will consider them in our first round of review.
Proposed 2027 policy ideas:
Ending the housing shortage
Urban vacancy mitigation fee / Parking lot & VMT pollution fee - incentivize dense urban housing development over keeping valuable lots vacant (pre-obligate dollars collected to avoid ⅔ vote requirement)

Alternative measures for qualifying for housing, programs, etc besides income
Revisit barriers to re-entry for formerly incarcerated Californians, within housing

Amplifying the voices of vulnerable communities
Fall education event on the production of more affordable homeownership opportunities
